Two Centuries of Valor - By Sam Kier
      The history of the Fifth US Infantry Regiment spans two centuries of American fighting tradition. The regiment was authorized by Congress on April 12, 1808. Junior only to the 3rd Infantry (1784) and the 4th Infantry (1792), it is the third oldest active unit in the U.S. Army. Over the years, the 5th Infantry has participated in fifty-eight campaigns in nine major conflicts from the War of 1812 to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
      The information for Two Centuries of Valor was gleaned from brief regimental histories written during the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries, monthly command and after-action reports, battalion radio logs, award citations, archived newspaper accounts, memoirs and correspondence with dozens of living veterans from World War II to men who are currently on active duty.

25th Aviation Battalion
This page is in honor of the many sacrifices the men of the Diamondheads and Little Bears made. Many made the ultimate sacrifice. For those this page is my way of saying thank you, for a job well done.
